We love Manila

Even though this city is to large extendt suffering from poverty, we really love the contrast between the parts of the city. All this incredible people working together to make Manila running smoothly. In our stay here we're mostly going to explore this one of a cind island, though The Philippines consists of about 15 islands or so, and we would just love to go seeing all these fantastic and beautiful places, but we'll stick to the capital for now.
Another interessting difference is the religion, The Philippines is actually just one of three asian countries that obtains a Christian relegion due to the conolization by Spain and US. So, here they are much more westernoriented than the neighbour countries.

HOLA!

This morning, we arrived at Manila International Airport and drove to the hotel we are staying at. Our first impression of The Philippines was a lot different than what we experienced in Dubai. Poverty, population and enviroment are just some of the mayor differences between these countries. Of course, religion and culture are  definetly something else here. The look of the natives aswell. There are just so many differences that it's like going to another planet. Luckily there's an American family staying at our hotel, so we have someone to comunicate with and we might use them to get some information about this capital, Manila.

Well, we have been here for 6 hours now and we haven't explored much, except restaurants of course. Even  us vikings have to eat during the day. So one of the things we so far have noticed that there are variated amount of languages, I belive I've heard spanish. Whatever, I've also read this has been a spanish colony and there are about 100 different languages spoken here.

As you can see here, poverty among the natives is a really huge problem in Manila and the rest of The Philippines. Though in other parts of the this city there are actually modern skyscrapers that kind of hides this poverty.

Here you can see the skyscrapers i mentioned. In this part of Manila there are a lot more turits going for shopping or sight-seeing. Although many turists travel to The Philippines to explore these areas effected by poverty.

Movin' on!

Alright, alright, alright, our last day in Dubai! Some of you sharpeyed readers might have spotted that I have not written any articles yet, even though we have quite a few of them. We thought that we could just use Sondre's account, but it dawned upon us that I might get IV. So "Mr.Englishteacher" (or Sir Dadalife,  which is our epic nickname for you) Sondre and I have collaborated on some of the articles because my account sort of found it funny to take a vacation, or to dysfunction. Something like that.

The first skeem for the day came together during last night's dinner, in which I ate way too much and Sondre got drunk. The hangover fanboy wanted me to do a little recap of what actually went down yesterday, so here it is! Our day yesterday.

Yesterday we went to a fine restaurant, and we were absolutely amazed. Not only by the stunning setting, the service and the food, but amazed by the people aswell. In Dubai, the main religion is Islam. We have a feeling that in the "western" part of the world this religion has somewhat of a dodgy reputation, and boy were we amazed!

Norwegian citizens has famously an intimate zone of half a mile, but here people everywhere are beiing kind and gentile, talking to eachother, helping people carry their stuff up and down the stairs and old people allways gets a seat from younger generations on the bus etc... We already knew that people with Islam as their main religion is nice, but the kindness and compassion that this religion learns to everyone here, completely blew us away.

The same thing applied in the fine restaurant we went to. The locals were dressed in religious robes of silk, decorated down to the slightest, finest detail. We were almost ashamed to be European because of a huge ensemble of loud, rude and crude people that were eating as pigs not far away from us.

To our delight, our waiter could inform us they were Americans. Our waiter was a very nice man who served my friend (Sondre, that is) a bit too much booze. I was offered some aswell, but had just consumed our huge dish of khuzi and humus, and felt like I could roll home, like a ball. We must have made quite a spectacle as we headed for the door.

Right now we are headed for the airport in a couple of hours, but we had to check out some cultural places, like old Dubai! According to one of the taxidrivers, old Dubai is like travelling back in time. Rumor has it that  the old fishermen lived and died all inside this same tiny town. Other than that we sure will drop by Burger King heading for the airport. We didn't trust the dead thing we got served for lunch.

Done with Dubai

Morning readers

Today is our last day here in Dubai. We're leaving allready at 07:00 PM, but of course not towards home. The next stop is the Philippines where we are going to stay for a week or so. If it will be as exciting as Dubai just remains to find out.

Right now we are packing up our stuff because we need to be checked out before 12:00 AM. I'm not quite sure what Einer has planned for us today, but there has got to be something. He said something about cultural life and religion.

We will soon tell you readers everything about our stay in Dubai, we want to focuse on the values, culture, a bit history and religion of this fabulous city, though turism and immigrants bringing other values and culture, effects these topics a lot.
